Local Boy Scouts are invited to attend a "Civil War history weekend" at the Andrew Johnson Homestead, on Saturday, July 26.
The event is sponsored by the Battle of Blue Springs Planning Committee and Venture Crew 1861.
On July 26, 2008, Union troops will occupy the Andrew Johnson Homestead at 209 South Main Street and invite area Boy Scouts to participate in "A School for the Civil War Soldier."
Camping will be available for a limited number of Webelos and Boy Scouts, their leaders and parents, at the Homestead starting Friday at 3 p.m., and ending Sunday at 1 p.m.
Reservations must be made by contacting Carlos Whaley, 423-620-7483, or e-mail cwhaleysr@msn.com. Cub Scouts are invited to participate in activities from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 26.
Boy Scouts participating in this event will be able to complete several requirements for the American Heritage, Citizenship in the Nation, and Genealogy merit badges.
