The Andrew Johnson Bicentennial Steering Committee has completed a special commemorative calendar for 2008 celebrating the bicentennial of Andrew Johnson's birth.
The 13-month calendar, entitled "From Tailor to President, A Two Hundred Year Journey," will be available for sale at various locations throughout Greeneville and Greene County.
It is currently available at the Nathanael Greene Museum for $7 and at the Andrew Johnson Historic Site Book Store for $10.
The calendar features pictures from the archives of the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site and daily facts about the life of Andrew Johnson, courtesy of the National Park Service.
There are monthly "Did you know?" features in the calendar as well.
The calendar was designed by Austin & Company, a creative ad agency in Johnson City. Betsy Austin, president, was the main designer, and the calendar was printed by Ecoquest Printing of Greeneville.
The Patterson-Bartlett Corporation has donated the funds for the creation of the calendar. This is in keeping with Mrs. Margaret Johnson Patterson Bartlett's life work of preserving the story of Andrew Johnson. She was the great-granddaughter of President Andrew Johnson.
